Susan Ferreira
Susan Ferreira is an Associate Professor and the founding Director of the Systems Engineering Research Center (SERC) at UTA. Prior to joining UTA, Dr. Ferreira worked in industry for over 17 years. Dr. Ferreira has significant experience working as a systems engineer in the aerospace and defense industry on complex software intensive systems. Her industry background includes work for Lockheed Martin, General Dynamics, Motorola, and Northrop Corporation.
Dr. Ferreira’s research interests are primarily focused in Systems Engineering and include systems engineering process modeling and simulation, systems thinking, requirements engineering, architecture, and systems engineering strategy. Domain focus areas include systems of systems and complex software intensive systems engineering. Dr. Ferreira has a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from Arizona State University. She also holds a B.S. and M.S. in Industrial Engineering from Arizona State University. While at ASU, she was awarded the Motorola/Arizona State University’s Corporate Leader’s Fellowship. In industry, she received awards for her contributions in systems engineering and as a key contributor in improving the organization’s software process maturity.
